Nimrod Or Sennacherib To Rise Out Of The Pit Through Rome?

Nimrod of Babylon is the source of all the paganism in Catholic Church today. How did it get their? Researchers say Babylon at the time of Daniel might as well have been called Assyria because they basically absorbed all of that Assyria was, and Assyria's religious system was absorbed by Babylon, and passed on through Egypt, Babylon, Meida/Persia, Greece, and now resides in Rome to be manifest in the last days. Hislop says this in Two Babylons.

Furthermore, Nimrod as Asshur built Nineveh, which was then destroyed by Babylon, making the first beast in Daniel 7, in part, a fallen Assyria. Assyria as a lion with wings is hidden in the symbolism of the first beast in Daniel 7 Sennacherib As A Type Of Antichrist. What does that have do to the end time scenario? Assyria is "hidden" in all the kingdoms mentioned in Daniel that have ruled over Jerusalem ands religiously is "hidden" in Rome awaiting full manifestation. In other words, Assyria, to me, is "Mystery Babylon." It is long gone, but the spirit of it lives on through the sequential conquering of one kingdom over another. Some say there are only 4 beasts mentioned by Daniel - Babylon, Media Persia, Greece and Rome. I believe there are 5 in the verses from Daniel 7, and with Assyria mysteriously hidden through absorption. In the latter times, it will resurface to openly manifest itself again.

In a site concerning world religions entitled, (http://www.yahshua.webhost.com.au/baid/ebd/T0000400.html - Link no longer active) "The Yahshuan Archives: World Religions; their scriptures, history and related articles", I found this statement which sums up this idea:

In Rev. 14:8; 16:19; 17:5; and 18:2, "Babylon" is supposed to mean Rome, not considered as pagan, but as the prolongation of the ancient power in the papal form. Rome, pagan and papal, is regarded as one power. "The literal Babylon was the beginner and supporter of tyranny and idolatry...This city and its whole empire were taken by the Persians under Cyrus; the Persians were subdued by the Macedonians, and the Macedonians by the Romans; so that Rome succeeded to the power of old Babylon. And it was her method to adopt the worship of the false deities she had conquered; so that by her own act she became the heiress and successor of all the Babylonian idolatry, and of all that was introduced into it by the immediate successors of Babylon, and consequently of all the idolatry of the earth." Rome, or "mystical Babylon," is "that great city which reigneth over the kings of the earth" (17:18)
.

Revelation 17 speaks of this in this fashion:

Rev 17:7 And the angel said unto me, Wherefore didst thou marvel? I will tell thee the mystery of the woman, and of the beast that carrieth her, which hath the seven heads and ten horns.
Rev 17:8 The beast that thou sawest was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition: and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet is.
Rev 17:9 And here is the mind which hath wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains, on which the woman sitteth.
Rev 17:10 And there are seven kings: five are fallen, and one is, and the other is not yet come; and when he cometh, he must continue a short space.
Rev 17:11 And the beast that was, and is not, even he is the eighth, and is of the seven, and goeth into perdition.

This same idea is present in the commentary notes of Jamieson, Faucett and Browne for Daniel 7:19, with the kingdom of Nimrod being "Rome [as] Babylon fully developed":

"In Babel, Nimrod the hunter (revolter) founds the first kingdom of the world (Ge 10:8-13). The Babylonian world power takes up the thread interrupted at the building of Babel, and the kingdom of Nimrod. As at Babel, so in Babylon the world is united against God; Babylon, the first world power, thus becomes the type of the God-opposed world. The fourth monarchy consummates the evil; it is "diverse" from the others only in its more unlimited universality. The three first were not in the full sense universal monarchies. The fourth is; so in it the God-opposed principle finds its full development. All history moves within the Romanic, Germanic, and Slavonic nations; it shall continue so to Christ's second advent. The fourth monarchy represents universalism externally; Christianity, internally. Rome is Babylon fully developed. It is the world power corresponding in contrast to Christianity, and therefore contemporary with it (Mt 13:38 Mr 1:15 Lu 2:1 Ga 4:4)."

Assyria under Sennacherib is, as far as I know, the only one who came against Jerusalem and failed, a major embarrasment, all explained in Scripture in the flavor of the end time scenario, wounded but rising up mysteriously through the kingdoms down through the ages as the king of the bottomless pit:

Rev 11:7 And when they shall have finished their testimony, the beast that ascendeth out of the bottomless pit shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them.

Sennacherib, the wounded one, I believe, will rise out of the pit and come against Jerusalem again:

Rev 13:2 And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority.
Rev 13:3 And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast.

Sennacherib, of course, was killed with the sword. This is covered in the first file on Sennacherib.
