Considering Various Feasts As The Start Of Daniel's 70th Week

OPENING NOTE: The following scenario and its accompanying charts was found on another web page a year or so ago and I have been unable to locate it. In anyone does run across it, please let me know so I can credit to it. I have reworked the charts and added some commentary to the original dialogue, but the original idea was not mine. This the document that "inspired" my doing this forum. This page looks at the idea of Passover being the beginning of Daniel's 70th week.

Putting Daniel's "Days" Together

I want to slowly piece all of this together according to the Feast of Passover, and I'll begin by reading the verses that we will be concerned with:

(Dan 8:26 KJV) And the vision of the evening and the morning which was told is true: wherefore shut thou up the vision; for it shall be for many days.

"The vision . . . is true." The angel is telling Daniel that all which he saw concerning a coming antichrist, the destruction of a future temple, the scattering again of the Jewish people is true. It will happen one day in the latter days. I want to begin this by reading from Daniel 9:27:

NIV (Dan 9:27 NIV) He will confirm a covenant with many for one 'seven.' In the middle of the 'seven' he will put an end to sacrifice and offering. And on a wing of the temple he will set up an abomination that causes desolation, until the end that is decreed is poured out on him."

KJV (Dan 9:27 KJV) And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

"He will confirm a covenant with many for one 'seven." -

We are all familiar with the fact that "one 'seven'" is a period of seven years. There were 69 weeks before this last or 70th "week" of Daniel and those 69 weeks were fulfilled as the angel stated, and they were fulfilled as years. These are called "weeks of years," meaning each day of this 70th week is a year long.

Daniel 7:25 shows the Antichrists' power over the nations will last three and one-half years:

(Dan 7:25 NIV) He will speak against the Most High and oppress his saints and try to change the set times and the laws. The saints will be handed over to him for a time (1 year), times (+2 years) and half a time (+1/2 of a year).

Revelation 11:2 and 13:5 further describes this power over the nations as consisting of forty-two months of thirty days each, a total of 1260 days (3-1/2 years).

(Rev 11:2 NIV) But exclude the outer court; do not measure it, because it has been given to the Gentiles. They will trample on the holy city for 42 months.

(Rev 13:5 NIV) The beast was given a mouth to utter proud words and blasphemies and to exercise his authority for forty-two months (3-1/2 years).

The beast can exercise authority for 42 months or 3-1/2 years, and he begins exercising that authority by seating himself in the temple of God and declares himself to be God. To show that he is actually a usurper of Christ's place, remember that God gave the Tabernacle to Israel so that He could DWELL IN THE TABERNACLE ON THE MERCY SEAT IN THE MIDST OF ISRAEL. Satan said in his heart,

Isa 14:13 . . . . I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: 14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.

According to this scenario of having the covenant signed on Passover, guess what day the middle of the tribulation falls on, the day when Antichrist seats himself in the temple and declares himself God? Tabernacles. Six months from Nisan 14 when the covenant is signed to the midpoint of the tribulation is Tabernacles, the 15th of Tishri and that is when Antichrist would seat himself in the temple and declare himself to be God:

2 Th 2:3 KJV Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; 4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God.

Return to Biblical 360 day year

Although the modern Jewish calendar roughly parallels the 365 day solar year, the events of Daniel's final week of years, the tribulation period, will be fulfilled on the basis of 360 day Biblical year. The seven year treaty of Daniel 9:27, signed between Israel and the Antichrist, allows that the temple be rebuilt. This will necessitate not only a revival of the temple sacrifice, but the reintroduction of the 360 day calendar on which the feast days were based. The shortening of the length of years will MOST LIKELY fulfill the prophecy of Matthew 24:22, "those days will be shortened for the sake of the Elect." Reverting back to the ancient Jewish Biblical calendar from the modern version will enable the fulfillment of the end time events found in Daniel's 70th week. This is because the time-line of God is based on precise dates for the feasts He gave to Israel and these are shadows of the realities to come at the end of the age.

The Extra 30 Days

Daniel 9:27 says that once the covenant is made, Antichrist will put an end to the sacrifices at the temple and set up the abomination that makes desolate, and this desolation will continue until the Antichrist meets his appointed end:

(Dan 9:27 NIV) He will confirm a covenant with many for one 'seven.' In the middle of the 'seven' he will put an end to sacrifice and offering. And on a wing of the temple he will set up an abomination that causes desolation, until the end that is decreed is poured out on him."

The question is, When is the END specified in this verse? In Daniel 12, we have that answer:

Dan 12:6 One of them said to the man clothed in linen, who was above the waters of the river, "How long will it be before these astonishing things are fulfilled?" :7 The man clothed in linen, who was above the waters of the river, lifted his right hand and his left hand toward heaven, and I heard him swear by him who lives forever, saying, "It will be for a time (1 year), times (+2 years) and half a time (+1/2 of a year - in other words, when the power of Israel is broken, THEN the consummation or the end comes). When the power of the holy people has been finally broken, all these things will be completed." 8 I heard, but I did not understand. So I asked, "My lord, what will the outcome of all this be?"

The Antichrist tramples Jerusalem for 3-1/2 years, and what follows that is 'the end that is decreed [to be] poured out on him." These things will continue until Israel's power has been totally broken. And Daniel says, "I don't understand that. What will the outcome be." So the angel describes the breaking of Israel's power:

Dan 12:9 He replied, "Go your way, Daniel, because the words are closed up and sealed until the time of the end. 10 Many will be purified, made spotless and refined, but the wicked will continue to be wicked. None of the wicked will understand, but those who are wise will understand. 11 From the time that the daily sacrifice is abolished and the abomination that causes desolation is set up, there will be 1,290 days."

The angel first said these things will last 3-1/2 years, but then sharpens the TIME OF THE END by saying, "From the time that the daily sacrifice is abolished and the abomination that causes desolation is set up, there will be 1,290 days."

The 2300 Days

(Dan 8:11 NIV) It set itself up to be as great as the Prince of the host; it took away the daily sacrifice from him, and the place of his sanctuary was brought low. 12 Because of rebellion, the host of the saints and the daily sacrifice were given over to it. It prospered in everything it did, and truth was thrown to the ground. 13 Then I heard a holy one speaking, and another holy one said to him, "How long will it take for the vision to be fulfilled--the vision concerning the daily sacrifice, the rebellion that causes desolation, and the surrender of the sanctuary and of the host that will be trampled underfoot?" 14 He said to me, "It will take 2,300 evenings and mornings; then the sanctuary will be re-consecrated."

(Dan 8:11 KJV) Yea, he magnified himself even to the prince of the host, and by him the daily sacrifice was taken away, and the place of his sanctuary was cast down. 12 And an host was given him against the daily sacrifice by reason of transgression, and it cast down the truth to the ground; and it practiced, and prospered. 13 Then I heard one saint speaking, and another saint said unto that certain saint which spake, How long shall be the vision concerning the daily sacrifice, and the transgression of desolation, to give both the sanctuary and the host to be trodden under foot? 14 And he said unto me, Unto two thousand and three hundred (2300) days; then shall the sanctuary be cleansed.

In other words, what is the combined duration for both the regular sacrifice and the period of desolation? The saint said it is a total time of 2300 days. We've determined that the covenant is only for seven years, and that at the end of that seven years, there are 30 more days and that at the end of these 30 days is when the consummation takes place. At the end of the seven years (2520 days) is the gathering of the nations at Armageddon and it falls on Passover because exactly seven years later would bring things back to Passover again. Then from Passover/Armageddon, there is another 30 days at which time the consummation comes and Antichrist and his forces are destroyed by the coming of Christ. In other words, the consummation or the end marks 2300 days from the time that the sacrifice is established in the temple. The seven years plus 30 days equals 2550 days till the consummation, and if subtract the 2300 days from that figure, we have 250 days. From the time the covenant is signed in the month of Nisan to when the sacrifice is restored to and performed in the temple, there are 250 days. That 250th day is a very special day.

The priests cannot make sacrifice at the temple until it is dedicated, and when we subtract 2300 days from the time of the end of Antichrist, the date that the 2300th day falls on is the day on which the temple is dedicated so they can begin sacrificing as commanded in the laws governing their feasts. And, there are exactly 250 days between Passover when the covenant is signed (Nisan 14) to the eve of the 25th of Chislev when the temple was rededicated in the time of the Maccabees, and that is when the sacrifices begin again.

The 1335th Day

Now let's look at the rest of this verse:

NIV (Dan 12:11 NIV) "From the time that the daily sacrifice is abolished and the abomination that causes desolation is set up, there will be 1,290 days. 12 Blessed is the one who waits for and reaches the end of the 1,335 days.

KJV Dan 12:11 "From the time that the daily sacrifice is abolished and the abomination that causes desolation is set up, there will be 1,290 days. 12 Blessed is the one who waits for and reaches the end of the 1,335 days.

The end of the covenant is after 1260 days. The end or consummation is at the end of 1290 days. What, then is 1335 day?
