The Scriptures Show Antichrist To Be the ASSYRIAN Gog

This information is to show that Gog is an Assyrian. The reason I mention that fact is because in it are scriptures that seem to place him before the millennium and others that place him after the millennium. This will be dealt with in another research paper.

Isa 10:5 O ASSYRIAN, the rod of mine anger, and the staff in their hand is mine indignation.
Isa 10:6 I will send him against an hypocritical nation, and against the people of my wrath will I give him a charge, to take the spoil, and to take the prey, and to tread them down like the mire of the streets.
Isa 10:7 Howbeit he meaneth not so, neither doth his heart think so; but it is in his heart to destroy and cut off nations not a few.

The next verse speaks of the ASSYRIAN as one day being broken on the Lord's mountains, just as the scriptures speak of Gog and Magog:

Isa 14:24 The LORD of hosts hath sworn, saying, Surely as I have thought, so shall it come to pass; and as I have purposed, so shall it stand:
Isa 14:25 That I will break the ASSYRIAN in my land, and upon my mountains tread him under foot: then shall his yoke depart from off them, and his burden depart from off their shoulders.
Isa 14:26 This is the purpose that is purposed upon the whole earth: and this is the hand that is stretched out upon all the nations.
Isa 14:27 For the LORD of hosts hath purposed, and who shall disannul it? and his hand is stretched out, and who shall turn it back?

When we compare what these verses speak of with Gog of Magog, there is little difference, if any, showing them to be the same person:

Ezek 39:1 Therefore, thou son of man, prophesy against Gog, and say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against thee, O Gog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal:
Ezek 39:2 And I will turn thee back, and leave but the sixth part of thee, and will cause thee to come up from the north parts, and will bring thee upon the mountains of Israel:
Ezek 39:3 And I will smite thy bow out of thy left hand, and will cause thine arrows to fall out of thy right hand.
Ezek 39:4 Thou shalt fall upon the mountains of Israel, thou, and all thy bands, and the people that is with thee: I will give thee unto the ravenous birds of every sort, and to the beasts of the field to be devoured.
Ezek 39:5 Thou shalt fall upon the open field: for I have spoken it, saith the Lord GOD.
Ezek 39:6 And I will send a fire on Magog, and among them that dwell carelessly in the isles: and they shall know that I am the LORD.
Ezek 39:7 So will I make my holy name known in the midst of my people Israel; and I will not let them pollute my holy name any more: and the heathen shall know that I am the LORD, the Holy One in Israel.
Ezek 39:8 Behold, it is come, and it is done, saith the Lord GOD; this is the day whereof I have spoken.
Ezek 39:9 And they that dwell in the cities of Israel shall go forth, and shall set on fire and burn the weapons, both the shields and the bucklers, the bows and the arrows, and the handstaves, and the spears, and they shall burn them with fire seven years:
Ezek 39:10 So that they shall take no wood out of the field, neither cut down any out of the forests; for they shall burn the weapons with fire: and they shall spoil those that spoiled them, and rob those that robbed them, saith the Lord GOD.
Ezek 39:11 And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will give unto Gog a place there of graves in Israel, the valley of the passengers on the east of the sea: and it shall stop the noses of the passengers: and there shall they bury Gog and all his multitude: and they shall call it The valley of Hamongog.
Ezek 39:12 And seven months shall the house of Israel be burying of them, that they may cleanse the land.

Isaiah continues speaking of antichrist as an ASSYRIAN in terms of the Lord taking the ASSYRIAN by the jaw and fires to burn his weapons after he is defeated. Relating Israel's deliverance to a night such as the Egyptian ("night of holy solemnity"), Isaiah prophesies:

Isa 30:27 Behold, the name of the LORD cometh from far, burning with his anger, and the burden thereof is heavy: his lips are full of indignation, and his tongue as a devouring fire:
Isa 30:28 And his breath, as an overflowing stream, shall reach to the midst of the neck, to sift the nations with the sieve of vanity: and there shall be a bridle in the jaws of the people, causing them to err.
Isa 30:29 Ye shall have a song, as in the night when a holy solemnity is kept; and gladness of heart, as when one goeth with a pipe to come into the mountain of the LORD, to the mighty One of Israel.
Isa 30:30 And the LORD shall cause his glorious voice to be heard, and shall show the lighting down of his arm, with the indignation of his anger, and with the flame of a devouring fire, with scattering, and tempest, and hailstones.
Isa 30:31 For through the voice of the LORD shall the ASSYRIAN be beaten down, which smote with a rod.
Isa 30:32 And in every place where the grounded staff shall pass, which the LORD shall lay upon him, it shall be with tabrets and harps: and in battles of shaking will he fight with it.
Isa 30:33 For Tophet is ordained of old; yea, for the king it is prepared; he hath made it deep and large: the pile thereof is fire and much wood; the breath of the LORD, like a stream of brimstone, doth kindle it.

Tophet, says Holman's Bible Dictionary, sounds like an ideal place for the burning of weapons:

TOPHET (Toh' feht) Name for a place in the Hinnom Valley outside Jerusalem derived from Aramaic or Hebrew meaning, "fireplace," but altered by Hebrew scribes to mean "shameful thing" because of the illicit worship carried on there (Jer. 7:31-32; KJV, "Tophet"). Child sacrifice was practiced at Tophet, leading the prophet to declare a slaughter of people there when God would come in vengeance (Jer. 19:6-11). See Hinnom, Valley of.

The verse Holman mentions, Jeremiah 7:31-32, spoke of Tophet in undoubtable terms concerning the end times:

Jer 7:29 Cut off thine hair, O Jerusalem, and cast it away, and take up a lamentation on high places; for the LORD hath rejected and forsaken the generation of his wrath.
Jer 7:30 For the children of Judah have done evil in my sight, saith the LORD: they have set their abominations in the house which is called by my name, to pollute it.
Jer 7:31 And they have built the high places of Tophet, which is in the valley of the son of Hinnom, to burn their sons and their daughters in the fire; which I commanded them not, neither came it into my heart.
Jer 7:32 Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that it shall no more be called Tophet, nor the valley of the son of Hinnom, but the valley of slaughter: for they shall bury in Tophet, till there be no place.
Jer 7:33 And the carcases of this people shall be meat for the fowls of the heaven, and for the beasts of the earth; and none shall fray them away.
Jer 7:34 Then will I cause to cease from the cities of Judah, and from the streets of Jerusalem, the voice of mirth, and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride: for the land shall be desolate.

Again, Holman's says the following concerning the Valley of Hinnom, which is located south of the old city of Jerusalem. This valley is 300 feet deep and a mile long:

HINNOM, VALLEY OF (Hihn' nahm) Place name of uncertain meaning; also called the valley of the son(s) of Hinnom. The valley lies in close proximity to Jerusalem (2 Kings 23:10), just south of the ancient city (Josh. 15:8). The valley had a somewhat unglamorous history during the Old Testament period. The worshipers of the pagan deities, Baal and Molech [ASSYRIAN god], practiced child sacrifice in the valley of Hinnom (2 Kings 23:10). The first specific mention of human sacrifice in Israel is in 2 Kings 16:3 and in Judah is in 2 Kings 17:17. The parallel passage in 2 Chronicles 28:3 indicates that the scene of the abomination was the valley of Hinnom.

The phrase "valley of Hinnom" in Hebrew may be transliterated ge-hinnom. The reputation of the valley was understood by the writers of the New Testament who transliterated the word into Greek as gehenna. That is the word attributed to Jesus as one of the several designations for hell (Matt. 5:22). Because of its ancient association with fiery sacrifices, the valley came to symbolize the place of torment reserved for those who reject God's offer of salvation.

A web page I found (http://home.sprynet.com/sprynet/pabco/tohell.htm) spoke of it as being used 12 times in the New Testament. I quote from it here, even though I don't totally agree with his idea of hell doctrinally:

And now the Greek word gehenna. I quote from Hastings:

"Gehenna: the word occurs twelve times in the New Testament. This term 'gehenna' represents 'the Valley of Hinnom' (Nehemiah 11:30, II Kings 23:10, etc.). The place was . . . a deep narrow gorge in the vicinity of Jerusalem, understood to be on the south side.

It is repeatedly mentioned in the Old Testament (Jeremiah 19:6, etc.). It became an object of horror to the Jews, and is said to have been made the receptacle for bones, the bodies of beasts and criminals, refuse and all unclean things. The terrible associations of the place . . . the fires said to have been kept burning in it in order to consume the foul and corrupt objects that were thrown into it, made it a natural and unmistakable symbol of dire evil, . . . ABSOLUTE RUIN. So it came to designate the place of future punishment."

The mention of worms also points to this valley as the place when antichrist and his horde will be buried:

"The word translated HELL in these verses is GEENNA (Strongs # 1067), which is a transliteration of the Hebrew for the Valley of Hinnom (Hebrew: ge hinnon), which was located southwest of Jerusalem and was used as a rubbish heap where garbage was dumped and burned so that it gradually adopted a spiritual application and became a picture of hell, the place of everlasting fire and torment. Fires burned (there) continuously and worms multiplied throughout the debris. Thus the statement, their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched (KJV), illustrates the eternal destruction of those who have not received the Savior."(Liberty Bible Commentary).

A. T. Robertson adds: "The Valley of Hinnom had been desecrated by the sacrifice of children to Moloch so that as an accursed place it was used for the city garbage where worms gnawed and fires burned. It is thus a vivid picture of eternal punishment."

The passage referred to in Mark 9:48 is Isaiah 66:22-24 where "worms" associated with the Valley of Hinnom (see verses from Isaiah 14 below):

Mark 9:48 Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.

Isa 66:22 For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, saith the LORD, so shall your seed and your name remain.
Isa 66:23 And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the LORD.
Isa 66:24 And they shall go forth, and look upon the carcases of the men that have transgressed against me: for their worm shall not die, neither shall their fire be quenched; and they shall be an abhorring unto all flesh.

Isa 14:9 Hell from beneath is moved for thee to meet thee at thy coming: it stirreth up the dead for thee, even all the chief ones of the earth; it hath raised up from their thrones all the kings of the nations.
Isa 14:10 All they shall speak and say unto thee, Art thou also become weak as we? art thou become like unto us?
Isa 14:11 Thy pomp is brought down to the grave, and the noise of thy viols: the worm is spread under thee, and the worms cover thee.
Isa 14:12 How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!
Isa 14:13 For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:
Isa 14:14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.
Isa 14:15 Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.
Isa 14:16 They that see thee shall narrowly look upon thee, and consider thee, saying, Is this the man that made the earth to tremble, that did shake kingdoms;
Isa 14:17 That made the world as a wilderness, and destroyed the cities thereof; that opened not the house of his prisoners?
Isa 14:18 All the kings of the nations, even all of them, lie in glory, every one in his own house.
Isa 14:19 But thou art cast out of thy grave like an abominable branch, and as the raiment of those that are slain, thrust through with a sword, that go down to the stones of the pit; as a carcase trodden under feet.
Isa 14:20 Thou shalt not be joined with them in burial, because thou hast destroyed thy land, and slain thy people: the seed of evildoers shall never be renowned.

The ASSYRIAN And Gog Will Be From The Seleucia Kingdom

In his book, "A Palace For The Antichrist," Pastor Joe Chambers speaks of the ASSYRIAN as coming from the Eastern division of the Grecian Empire:

"Further support for the Middle East connection to the Antichrist is found in Daniel's vision of Daniel 8. This vision brings a scene of the Medes Persian conquest of Babylon followed by the armies of Grecia (Alexander the Great) which soon broke up into four regional kingdoms. The four regions were as follows: Gassander (Macedonia and Western part), Lysimachus (Thrace and the northern part), Seleucia ((Syria and Eastern Part), and Ptolemy (Egypt and southern part). Then Daniel said,

"Dan 8:24 And his power shall be mighty, but not by his own power: and he shall destroy wonderfully, and shall prosper, and practice, and shall destroy the mighty and the holy people.
Dan 8:25 And through his policy also he shall cause craft to prosper in his hand; and he shall magnify himself in his heart, and by peace shall destroy many: he shall also stand up against the Prince of princes; but he shall be broken without hand.

"Two things connect this passage to the Middle East. Isaiah said he would be an ASSYRIAN which places his origination from the Selucid Kingdom, presently Syria, including the eastern area of the old ASSYRIAN Kingdom. (This included Northern Iraq, Northern iran, and Southern Turkey) (pp 138-139)."

Pastor Chambers then goes on to describes how Antiochus came from this area and was a type of antichrist. But this is also the area where Gog comes from, which is shown by other research papers on the Forum page.

Micah 5:1-6: Jesus Christ Returns To Defeat The ASSYRIAN

Micah 5:1 Now gather thyself in troops, O daughter of troops: he hath laid siege against us: they shall smite the judge of Israel with a rod upon the cheek.
Micah 5:2 But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.
Micah 5:3 Therefore will he give them up, until the time that she which travaileth hath brought forth: then the remnant of his brethren shall return unto the children of Israel.
Micah 5:4 And he shall stand and feed in the strength of the LORD, in the majesty of the name of the LORD his God; and they shall abide: for now shall he be great unto the ends of the earth.
Micah 5:5 And this man shall be the peace, when the ASSYRIAN shall come into our land: and when he shall tread in our palaces, then shall we raise against him seven shepherds, and eight principal men.
Micah 5:6 And they shall waste the land of Assyria with the sword, and the land of Nimrod in the entrances thereof: thus shall he deliver us from the ASSYRIAN, when he cometh into our land, and when he treadeth within our borders.

Of these verses, Pastor Chambers says,

"This breathtaking prophecy connects the land of Assyria with the Land of Nimrod (Babylon and Iraq). The ASSYRIAN capital was Ninevah or modern Mosul which is now in Northern Iraq. . . ." (p. 140).

This same area is shown to be, again, the general area from which Gog comes from.
