Interesting that there exists an encycolpedia to explain the unexplainable...When I worked to "heal" someone psychically, I did have a need to shake my hand. I felt a heaviness in my hand and arm that eased when I "shook off the sick, or negative, energy." How long has this book, you're using, been in existence? The information and training I had was mostly from word of mouth; I find it chilling that the book you use is so accurate to what I had been taught for two decades. The whole realm of psychic/new age beliefs has become so well organized...MUCH more so than when I was a participant.

I admit that I preferred to believe it all to be a rather mild fantasy. I now know it is neither mild nor fantasy, but a sinister ploy by the evil one to prey on the pride of man. The title of "healer" has always had and still has a certain fascination for people. We all want to be healed in a magical way. The "healer" is held in a lofty place in the minds of men, especially when he has a good marketing technique and is well-known.

Speaking of which, I watched Benny Hinn for the first time last night. His healing "ministry" must be the reason he's so popular, because his teaching method was terrible...it was obvious that he was little prepared for the teaching, other than that it appeared that he had done a "word study" on the word "faith" (does he ever teach on anything else? Or were we just "lucky" to tune in when he talked about faith?). He spouted several different scriptures at the end of his talk. He did not use them within the body of his teaching, tying them to the points he was making like I would expect a good teacher to do. I found it difficult to stay tuned to what he said, since he did ramble some. He also did something else that I thought was indicative of the word-faith people I've observed. That is, he had the audience chant phrases at different times...usually he required the phrase to be repeated 3 times. I guess that goes along with the belief that we can make things happen in our lives by repeating the words over and over....it's much like the new age view that we manifest things by word or thought forms.

FLOW FREE - pertains to how the mind should function to receive psychic information; psychic begins with a neutral or empty mind, without any preconceptions of what should or will transpire, or what the message will be; this makes the mind flow without garbling. Very rampant on TBN's "revival" meetings right now under the guise of directional prophecy to people who are ministered to.

FRENZIED HYSTERICAL POSSESSION TRANCE - (ancient Greece) the possession of one's body by an etheric world intelligence for use in psychic phenomena or to bring forth psychic knowledge; accompanied by emotional arousal such as prolonged dancing, twirling, chanting, snake handling, etc. which puts the subject in a state of hypnotic trance. Syn. ECSTASY TRANCE. [cf. IMPERSONATION, TRANCE, MILD DISASSOCIATION, TRANCE OF INDIFFERENCE].

Many have prophesied while frozen in any particular position, which to me is bringing forth psychic knowledge because it was not the Holy Spirit.

FROZEN - pertains to places in the body where the flow of energy current is blocked by repressed memories of a traumatic experience that went unresolved when it occurred. Syn. LOCKED-IN. [cf. HOLISTIC HEALTH, EGRESSION, PRIMAL SCREAM, ROLFING.]

This, too, has been brought out in the TBN "revival" meetings, where people are set free from repressed memories to serve the Lord and then are anointed and go out in the spirit.
