"Music in the Air"
Summer Outdoor
Concert Series

The Erie Chamber Orchestra, under the direction of Bruce Morton Wright, performs a two concert series titled "Music in the Air" on the first real weekend of each August. As stated by director Wright "I first planned to have these concerts performed under a big tent. However, when I discovered the rental cost for such a tent, this concert series immediately became "Music in the Air."

Over the years these concerts have become one of the City of Erie's most popular summer events. Our audience is drawn from the City and County of Erie and the tri-state areas. We have many concert attendees from the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania area who plan their summer visits to Erie, Pennsylvania during this music weekend.

The concerts are held on the patio of Villa Maria Academy/ 2403 West 8th Street/ Erie, Pennsylvania. This facility offers a natural site for the concerts and a last moment attentive site in case of rain. Many of our concert attendees bring their own blankets or lawn chairs and sit on the grass listening to the concerts. Some even bring tables, chairs, candles and food to enjoy during the performances.
