This year I was asked by my friend Werner Seitzer, who is the Chief Music Director of the State Theatre of Hildesheim, Hildeshiem, Germany, to perform six Near Years Concerts in Hildesheim, Germany.  

These concerts were like a “dream come true” for me and were the “the best Christmas present” I have ever received. Working with the orchestra, especially the viola section was an wonderful experience that shall always remember.

Werner and I were students at the Vienna Conservatory of Music . and we received our Kapellmeister Degree in 1973. At had been over thirty years since we had spoken, but by means of the internet, we were able to find each other. Werner has conducted these New Year Concerts for the last twenty years. This year  he had announced that there was going to be a surprise and I discovered that I was the surprise. No one in Hildesheim knew that I was going to conduct the concerts and it was quite an surprise.

During my fifteen day stay in Germany my wife and I were able to visit Hannover, and Berlin. I also had a chance to ride on what is called a "fast train," and I must say that it was really fast.

I want to thank my friend Werner  Seitzer for this opportunity to perform with his orchestra and I want to thank the musicians of the orchestra for all their hard work and dedication in perform these concerts. My time in Hildesheim, Germany will be something that I will always remember and cherish for my entire life. It truly was the "best Christmas present" I have ever received.
