Erie Astronomical Society
We are fortunate to have two Astronomical Groups in Erie, please visit the Erie Astronomical Society!

Welcome to the Erie County Mobile Observers Group on the world wide web. As our club name suggests, we have no fixed observatory: our observing sites are as permanent as the earth is! By this we mean that we prefer to travel to various locations throughout Erie County, Pennsylvania to set up our telescopes and observe the night sky. Remaining mobile allows us to take full advantage of the dark skies found only in the more rural parts of our county. Our club is relatively small (40-50 members), but members are on a first-name basis with each other, and are very receptive to new members and visitors, seasoned observers and novices alike. Our primary observing sites are gameland parking lots and other rural properties where our club has been given permission by the respective authorities to use the property for astronomical observing. When skies are clear, we become a telephone/e-mail alerting service, and we notify all members of when and where we will be observing. For information on scheduled club "star parties" click the "Observing Schedule" link at the top of this page.
